The top-of-the-line Vitamix Ascent A3500 Blender is a real Show-Stopper, and it’s the only model in Vitamix’s exciting new Ascent line that includes all available features and conveniences.
Cleveland, Ohio-based Vitamix Corporation has been in the business of making some of the world’s best blenders for nearly a century. Many of their Vitamix blenders in their Legacy Series, Ascent Series, and Personal Series are bestsellers. The Ascent series is their latest product range, and they’ve used the latest technologies, smart innovations, and sleek designs to make these blenders stand out in every possible way.
The Ascent A3500 has five program settings for hot soups, frozen desserts, smoothies, dips and spreads, and even one for self-cleaning. It also has 10 variable speed controls and a touchscreen digital timer. The pulse functionality and motor are both extremely powerful. All the controls are a touch screen, except the variable speed control. There is built-in wireless connectivity.

Design and setup.
First up is the base. You can get it in the classic style or metal. I like the metal option for a more sophisticated look. If you have a lot of stainless steel appliances, the Vitamix A3500 will have you jumping for joy. Matching appliances make a happy kitchen.
Beyond the metal option, you have a fancy touchscreen. If you have been present the last 5 years in this world, you probably own something with a touchscreen. It’s easier to use and just looks nicer in my opinion.
Note regarding the touchscreen: It’s not the same kind of touchscreen as the older (and oddly more expensive) Vitamix 780 blender. It’s “haptic” like your iPhone in that you feel tiny clicks as you adjust it. This prevents you from sliding your fingers across it without being able to tell very well how far you’ve moved. It gives maximum control while blending, but with the luxurious modern feel of “touch.”
Programs and Settings.
I am definitely a program person. If you’re usually doing multiple things at once in the kitchen (for your kids, dogs, or guests), the preset programs built into the A3500 save time and effort. Two blenders in the Ascent range have the preset programs, and the A3500 has the most, at 5.
The programs are Smoothies, Hot Soups, Dips & Spreads, Frozen Desserts, and Self Cleaning. You heard me right, SELF CLEANING. I would buy this blender just for that feature alone.
Perfect Blending – You can customize the processes with pulse and speed controls for dips and spreads, hot soups, smoothies, frozen desserts, and more. Your morning smoothie or late-night dessert is now guaranteed to be just a click away, and you can thrill your house-party guests by serving the finest dips and spreads.
The blending is perfect and consistent always. Just pick a recipe from the book and follow the plan. The Ascent A3500 is precise in everything it does.
Flexible Blending – You can use a range of ingredients in your blender such as vegetables, fruits, dough, and processing butter. Its 10 variable speed controls will always give you uniform textures, no matter what the ingredient. The pulse feature is dynamic enough to work both on soft pulp and fruits, vegetables, nuts, and seeds.
The technology doesn’t stop here. If you’ve seen the Ascent series blenders, you might have heard of the “self-detect technology” and “Wi-Fi capabilities.” Let me say a little about those quickly:
The self-detect technology is kind of cool, but for most people, I don’t think it’ll make much difference. Thanks to the built-in wireless connectivity, its motor base can identify the selected container size automatically, and adjust the maximum blending time and program settings accordingly. The A3500 uses near-field communication or NFC to do this. The NFC tag is located at the bottom of your container.
The container sizes available as options are 8 oz. blending bowl starter kit, 20 oz. blending cup starter kit, 48 oz. self-detect container, 48 oz. dry grains self-detect container and the 64 oz low-profile self-detect container. (note: the blending bowl and blending cup requires the self-detect adapter base provided in the starter kit.)
A smaller thing “Self Detect” does is prevent the blender from turning on if the lid isn’t secure, but I’ve never particularly found this to be a problem.
Despite there currently being no use for the Wi-Fi capability, it’s been suggested that this may allow owners of Ascent blenders to obtain new presets and other technology updates in the future. The details remain to be seen, but this is an exciting prospect nonetheless, especially given that with your 10-year warranty (increased from 7 years on Next Gen Vitamixes), you’ll have this machine for an awfully long time.
What does all of this combined give you?
An easy way to make whatever you want in the kitchen. Your blender detects the container size, you choose the program, it runs the program to give you exactly what you want, and you can walk away. When you come back, BOOM! You have your delicious concoction ready to be devoured.
After you pour it out with no mess, put a little hot water and soap in the blender. Turn on the self-clean preset and let the blender clean itself up.
Note: If you do find it easier for whatever reason, you can also shove your container for the A3500 in the dishwasher (which you couldn’t do with the Vitamix 750).
As with the Ascent A3300, A2500, and A2300, the A3500 includes a convenient timer display. The timer display is a touchscreen, and you can manually set a specific time for blending. The timer will count up and display the minutes and seconds of your blends. The motor stops automatically after six and a half minutes when you use the big 64 oz container. However, the soup program on this blender runs for five minutes and forty-five seconds.
The A3500 has a digital knob. Speed setting resets to 1 after the blender has stopped, which is good because if you accidentally leave the speed setting on high, there is always a risk of unexpectedly starting it up at the maximum speed. The knob feels nice, and it clicks gently between speed settings.
All Ascent Series blenders, including the A3500, have a clear lid. Previous models from Vitamix had a black lid that tends to obstruct the top view. The new clear lid gives you a better view from above, and the lid snap fastens with a click when locked. The container also has a clear see-through surface, and there are more curves in the container and lid which (we think) makes the blender look better.
Vitamix is offering a 10-year full warranty for the Ascent A3500 blender. In the event that your machine requires a repair, Vitamix will cover all labor costs, parts, and even shipping charges both ways.

Final Thoughts on the Vitamix Ascent A3500 Blender
The Vitamix Ascent A3500 blender is part of a new generation of models from the company. It looks incredibly modern and has a wide range of features onboard. The 5 automatic preset modes and the customizable timer really make everything more convenient to use. There’s also plenty of power here to handle the most difficult blending tasks.
I should mention that the A3500 blender comes with a long 10-year warranty, yes, that’s an entire decade worth of coverage. If a problem arises and it isn’t due to human error, the Vitamix company will fix the machine. They’ll even pay to ship both ways when handling repairs. Having such a long warranty should give you some peace of mind; knowing you’ll have a working blender for many years. I think the warranty definitely adds extra value and makes the premium price more justified.
The Vitamix Ascent A3500 blender is a great choice if you are looking for a beautiful high-end blender. It is the top-of-the-line model from the Ascent Series and a flagship product of Vitamix. When it comes to features, blending, conveniences, easy cleanup, power, and ease of storage, the A3500 does not disappoint. If you want a powerful blender with a ton of features, I’d definitely recommend the A3500. Happy blending!
