Do you Want a Full Body Workout At Home?

Working out at home is always a good way of ensuring a consistent fitness routine. On top of that, with a home gym (versus a gym membership) you don’t have to wait your turn to get on a machine. Furthermore, you don’t have to wipe off some stranger’s sweat before you use it, you don’t have to worry about people watching or judging you, and you don’t have to pay a monthly membership fee.

You can pack your bag and head to a crowded gym, or you can get all of the same exercises on a single piece of equipment in the comfort of your own home. With a home gym, you work out when you want and however you want.

Bowflex Blaze is my #1 Pick for a Home Gym at this Price Point

You can perform over 60 gym-quality exercises with the Bowflex Blaze in the comfort of your own home. This compact home gym machine utilizes the innovative Power rod resistance system found only on Bowflex machines. This resistance system provides an ultra smooth and fluid movement that is easy on the joints. It also provides resistance during every part of the exercise movement, just like you would get with free weights.

This machine will get you the full body workout that you want. With the mid-level pulleys, you can perform numerous chest exercises or an aerobic row with the sliding seat. You can also work your deltoids, shoulders, and arms. The upper pulleys allow you to work your lats, back, and shoulders.

And for the full body workout, you can use the leg extension/curl to work your quads and hamstrings. You can also use the mid-level pulleys to perform squats. When you buy the Bowflex Blaze, you may as well cancel the gym membership because you can get it all down on this machine.

What I Love About the Bowflex Blaze Home Gym:

Options

The Bowflex Blaze Home Gym comes in at about the same price as the Bowflex PR3000 Home Gym, but we think your options are superior to the Blaze. For starters Bowflex markets this home gym with more exercise options at 60+. A significant design difference is a bench, which provides a sliding seat for performing rows.

Another important difference and probably the biggest decision maker in our opinion is that the Blaze Home Gym provides resistance upgrades to 310 and 410 lbs. That’s something won’t find on the PR3000 or PR1000 Bowflex Home Gyms. Finally, the Bowflex Blaze Home Gym provides a little bit better warranty than you’ll find on other machines in this price range. These are all reasons that we prefer the Bowflex Blaze Home Gym at this price point.

What Isn’t So Great About the Bowflex Blaze Home Gym:

Resistance

If you’ve read other Bowflex reviews, you probably knew this was coming. When you’re investing in a home gym, you want to make sure you’re going to have a good product for a long time. While the Bowflex Blaze Home Gym is a great product, you will need to spend money to keep it that way. Over time the Resistance Rod system is going to need to be replaced.

In two or three years, you’ll notice that the resistance is getting easier. Yes, you’re probably getting in better shape as well, but with the constant bending, these rods are going to lose strength. While there is a lifetime warranty on the rods, it does not cover normal wear and tear. You’ll need to buy new rods with your own money.

Features: Bowflex Blaze Home Gym

  • Over 60 exercises to work out your entire body in one compact unit.
  • Power Rod® units give you resistance, or weight, that feels as good as or better than free weights but without the inertia or risk of joint pain.
  • 210 lbs of resistance are upgradable to 310 lbs or 410 lbs.
  • Multiple cable/pulley positions enable custom workouts.
  • Lat tower with angled lat bar helps build back and shoulder muscles quickly.
  • Lower pulley/squat station enables you to do squats and build your glutes, hamstrings, and quads.
  • Leg extension/leg curl attachment helps develop strong, muscular legs.
  • Sliding seat rail adds aerobic rowing training for calorie burning, cardiovascular warm up and cool down.
  • Triple function hand grip/ankle cuffs are designed to add flexibility and performance to any workout.
Warranty:

Machine: 5 year
Rods: Lifetime (doesn’t cover wear and tear)
Parts: 60 days

Warranty applies to defects in materials and workmanship for the original owner only. Warranty does not apply to normal wear and tear.

Shipping and Assembly: Bowflex Blaze

Shipping costs will vary for the Bowflex Blaze Home Gym depending on where you purchase from and what type of delivery you prefer. However, some retailers, such as Amazon.com, may provide free shipping.

The Bowflex Blaze Home Gym is easy to assemble. The instructions are illustrated and clear enough to follow. The packing gives you Allen wrenches, but you’ll still need an adjustable wrench and a couple of screwdrivers to get the job done. The assembly process should only take you 2-3 hours to complete.

Final Word on the Bowflex Blaze Home Gym:

There are a lot of home gym options in this price range. You can find excellent gyms that utilize weight stacks or free weights, but if you’ve read this review, you’re probably interested in the Bowflex Resistance Rod system. If that’s the case, for the price, the Bowflex Blaze is our choice. You get a great design and tons of exercise options. It’s only real downfall is something that you can’t avoid on a Bowflex machine.

  1. I remember wanting to get a bowflex years ago, but then they kinda seemed to have faded off the scene. But now I see they’re still going strong and now back with the Bowflex Blaze! This shows even much more improvement over their former model(s) and I am definitely getting me one!

  2. That’s a big chunk of money. But I guess this is worth the price. I mean instead of hitting off the gym and take thousands I guess this ones perfect. Bringing your own gym at home.

  3. This is an amazing equipment. You can do over 60 types exercises in one machine for only, 721 dollars. That is amazing. That is a steal, considering the numerous things it offers.

  4. I won’t lie, the reason I don’t work out is the thought of going to the gym. I can’t stand a crowded place with all the sweat there. If I can do it all at home then I’ll save enough to get the Bowflex Blaze. Is it possible to find a store to buy on higher purchase kind of deal?

    1. Hello Eugene, having the Bowflex Blaze at home is convenient in such that you can work out whenever you want to and you’ll save on the gym memberships. There are high-end home gyms listed in our product reviews. Thanks for sharing, Robert

  6. I don’t have that much money yet to buy an equipment like the Bowflex Blaze but I really want to be fit and healthy.Guess I’d have to hit the gym before I buy one and see what the fuss is about.Very insightful article though, keep it up.

  7. I think Bowflex Blaze is an interesting piece of machine… but I’m weighing between investing in this versus using free weights. Which of these may be a better investment? Wait, does my concern even make sense?

    1. Hi Wilfred, you’ve touched on a question that’s been raging for a while. Which is better: free weights? or machines? I think there’s a place in working out for both of them. I like machines because they are easy to target certain muscle groups. I like free weights because they allow for a full body 3D range of motion. It sounds like you haven’t worked out with either. I suggest going to a local YMCA and try some machines and some free weights. Thanks for sharing, Robert

    1. Hi Kevin, it’s hard to put a price on one’s health and fitness. After considerating all of the factors, I find the Bowflex Blaze to be reasonably priced. The price listed on the review is the current lowest price I could find available. Thanks for sharing, Robert
