One thing about the Inspire Fitness FT2 Functional Trainer is that it is big and it is heavy. You will need lots of room to accommodate this bad boy, and you surely won’t be moving it around much once it is set up. This size does come with many features, but just be prepared to have a space dedicated to it.

  • Weight: 500+ pounds

Warranty

Assembly

As can be expected from such a massive piece of equipment, the Inspire Fitness FT2 Functional Trainer takes quite a long time to assemble. The instructions are relatively clear and easy to follow, but there are a lot of them. You will need some tools like a screwdriver, ratchet, and a rubber mallet. Also, while it is possible to assemble yourself, it is going to take a few hours. We recommend that you have another person helping you. Here is a link to the Inspire Fitness Manual_FT2 so you can see for yourself.

What We Like

First off, we like the Inspire Fitness FT2 Functional Trainer because it’s for really serious weightlifters. It comes with dual independent 150-pound weight stacks. The fact that they are independent is fantastic because you can use both stacks at once or just work on one side of your body. Moreover, the weight stacks are upgradeable from 150 pounds to 200 pounds each.

There is even a force multiplier feature that allows you to double the amount of resistance. In other words, the maximum weight that the Inspire Fitness FT2 Functional Trainer will enable you to lift is 800 pounds (including the upgrade and force multiplier). That is more than enough weight for anybody out there. The weight stacks use a magnetic pin to hold them in place, which makes this model quite safe and reliable.

Another thing that we like about the Inspire Fitness FT2 Functional Trainer is that it features a Smith bar that has been integrated into a weight stack. Most Smith bars use free weights, which can be quite a pain, but not with the Inspire Fitness FT2 Functional Trainer. The Smith bar connects to the weight stack to make doing presses as comfortable as can be.

Safety features

The Smith bar also features a top lockout feature so you can keep it out of the way when not in use. Moreover, it also comes with various safety catches in case you drop it. When it comes to doing presses, the Inspire Fitness FT2 Functional Trainer is one of the safest items around. To do your incline and bench presses, this model also comes with a highly adjustable bench.

Another thing that we like about the Inspire Fitness FT2 Functional Trainer is that the frame features heavy-duty rectangular and round tubular steel. The steel also has an electrostatically applied powder coat finish for some extra protection. The broad base of this model makes it very stable, and the high-quality frame makes it about as reliable as any home gym could be.

Something else that we like about the Inspire Fitness FT2 Functional Trainer is that it features a dual pulley system that has 32 different positions available. It allows for many different exercises.

FT2 Functional Trainer comes loaded with Accessories

The Inspire Fitness FT2 Functional Trainer lets you exercise virtually every muscle in your body. It comes with a leg extension attachment and a leg kit, a tricep rope, a pair of D-handles, a straight bar, an EZ curl bar, an ankle cuff, a multi-function belt, and a swing handle. When combined with the various pulley systems and positions, you can do everything from tricep and bicep exercises to abdominal crunches, squats, presses, and much more.

The Inspire Fitness FT2 Functional Trainer even comes with an integrated pull-up bar too. The Inspire Fitness FT2 Functional Trainer is one of the most comprehensive home gyms out on the market today. Whether you want to work out your leg, back, chest, core, abs, arms, shoulders, or any other part of your body, this home gym will allow you to do it.

What We Don’t Like

Simply put, the assembly is a pain in the butt with this thing. Sure, you could get the expert assembly, but that will only cost you several hundred bucks more. Prepare to spend close to a whole day assembling the Inspire Fitness FT2 Functional Trainer if you are working by yourself.

Value for money

One thing that is clear about the FT2 is that you get a whole lot of value for the money that you are spending. This trainer and Smith machine combination does cost over 4,000 dollars, which is by no means cheap, but it is by far the most comprehensive, versatile, and advanced workout option on the market today. It is an extremely durable, stable, and safe piece of workout equipment that in all essence is a total home gym that lets you do thousands of different exercises.

Final Thoughts On The Inspire Fitness FT2 Functional Trainer

The bottom line is that the Inspire Fitness FT2 Functional Trainer is most likely the best high-end home gym out there. Yes, it is costly, but it is also extremely durable, it has a ton of function, lots of possible exercises, and a massive amount of weight and resistance.  Therefore, if you are serious about strength training, this is a model you want to consider.

    1. Hi Reggie, it doesn’t get much better than the FT2 Functional Trainer. It’s not for everyone but if you are lucky enough to own one you’ll be glad that you do. Thanks for sharing, Robert

  1. If you’re serious about strength training, you’d be wise to invest in one of these… just don’t forget getting help with the assembly. You’ll prolly need more than just tools for this one!

    1. Hello Solomon, you should have somebody help you assembling the FT2. It’s one of the best strength training machines on the market so it’s worth the hassle. Thanks for sharing, Robert

  2. A “limited lifetime warranty”? Doesn’t that sound kinda shady? Overall, I think the price may be too steep for me..any cheaper alternatives to this, Robert?

  3. This machines seems perfect for a professional weight lifter and it is not a machine I would consider buying for my home. However, if I found it at my local gym it is something that I would exercise on. I will refer this site to the gym manager maybe they might be interested in purchasing it as the one they have is now outdated.

  4. The machine looks like a solid piece of fitness equipment and the price matches the quality.
However, I rather go workout with the machine at a gym rather than buy it for my home because the price
    is out of my reach.

  5. I would like to thank you for your honest review, but for me, $5,000 dollars is just a bit too much. My budget for these type of machines is probably only 3k.

  6. Wow this is super heavy no wonder assembly is not its strong suit. I choose the Smith machine over this or any other similar products.

  7. Seems like a pain to set up. Well. it is not its strongest selling point if you can see past that then Perhaps hardcore buffs could go for this.

  8. How much space it’s going to take? In city living where there is space crunch it would an important point to consider. However, there’s no denying that nothing is worthier than fitness, and from that point of view one can give it a try.

  9. The warranty offer for this machine is great. It is costly but considering the warranty and the functionality of this equipment then I think the benefits will outweigh the cost.

  10. You can tell from the design that it is not cheap. But for someone serious about strength training then this may be a good investment.

  11. This post is so detailed. It’s good that even the process and the tools needed to use in the assembly is included. Great post!

  12. I love what the Smith Machine could offer as a work equipment. But since I’m not a serious lifter, I don’t think it fits my level.

    1. Hi Albeneth, it’s not for everybody. I believe that strength training is vital to everybody in the long run so I hope you find something that’s right for you. Thanks for sharing, Robert

  13. Thanks for the review! I must say this wonderful equipment is definitely pricey. Nevertheless, there are people that would want to buy this which includes me!

  14. This smith machine is a complete package of a gym which you will need in your home to tone some muscles and get fit. I would say that this smith machine is worth the $4000 for having so many features and it is around the same price of the smith machines available in my place which comes with much fewer features. Plus, this looks like a quality and durable product which will longer life as we use. Very nice review. Thanks for sharing.

  15. It does need a lot of space, but the benefits are mind-blowing. I like the idea that the parts have unlimited warranties. I cant wait to start experiencing the benefits of having an overall fit psyche.

  16. Actually this machine is more of a permanent deal, like when you have a room that you need to make a gym. This is one of the equipment to equip your gym with. However, you do need to consider whether you need it at first. A first time beginner might not consider it due to it’s weight and might probably go for a lighter machine.

  17. This machine is not for the beginners. This needs serious heavy weight individuals with the aim of lifting heavy stuffs. It’s a good machine overall.

  18. This smith machine is cool! Is this even real? Not cheap but it’s versatility is quite tempting. This is my dream equipment, dude!

  19. I would definitely go for this smith machine. Features and function wise. Assembling may be a daunting task but it will be worth it.

    1. Hi April, thanks for joining in. I could go for this smith machine too! It’s worth the assembly because of all the fitness benefits a person would receive from using it. Thanks again, Robert
